Why did you decide to sign up for Leading with Finance?
I was browsing through the HBR page on Facebook, and I found out about this program. I was always fascinated by finance and wanted to learn more. Further, I liked the unique features of the program in that it focuses on learners from diverse academic and work backgrounds and uses the case study method and videos to explain the complex financial concepts in an accessible manner. I also liked that Leading With Finance is from Harvard Business School and Professor Desai.
What was your favorite part of the program?
The program is beautifully designed and has so much to offer. Professor Desai explains the concepts effortlessly and it’s easy to grasp and absorb them. The reflections as a part of modules are more like discussing topics with your peers in real-time. The members of my cohort were helpful, and I learned so much from them. You get to have a 360-degree view of the topics with a variety of opinions from your peers. You are never left alone.
How are you applying the skills you've learned in Leading with Finance?
Finance originally intimidated me, and now it’s a part of my life. I have started investing in the stock exchange (though at a small level), and I analyze company profiles by applying all the relevant tools I learned from the course. I no longer make hasty decisions in investments - I wait and reflect before giving it a try. So far it’s been successful!
Any advice for people who will be taking Leading with Finance?
I am not exaggerating when I say that Leading with Finance has been a life-changing journey. I’m no longer afraid of numbers, and the intricacies of Finance are now my ally. This is all thanks to Professor Desai who made the theories and principles of finance simple to understand and apply. Try to learn from and interact with your cohort as much as you can, as it leads to a deeper understanding of the course concepts. Your fellow participants are ready and eager to help. The program is well worth the time you will spend on it.
