Why did you decide to sign up for Leading with Finance?
The Leading with Finance program appeared to be the best program out there to develop a good skill set in the fundamentals of Financial Analysis. I was looking to enhance the skill set I already had, so I was looking for a program that had the right balance of being rigorous enough to challenge my thinking and develop new skills while allowing me to continue to do my work.
What was your favorite part of the program?
The program expertly leads you through progressively more complex theories and analysis with a pace that keeps you challenged and engaged. Not only do you learn about different applications of financial analysis, but you also get to see them applied to the real world through short video interviews of several financial analysis professionals. It really brought to life the impact of the tools and theories we were learning.
How are you applying the skills you've learned in Leading with Finance?
At Ford's Theatre, we are undergoing a reinvention through the use of digital and its ability to create transformational scale. It will enable us to create new and important strategic partnerships as well as become a solution partner in classrooms around the country. This work will be the linchpin of a major capital campaign and will also transform the way the organization operates.
My board committee is responsible for oversight of the creation and execution of the digital strategy and scaling of the education programming. In essence, the Committee is responsible for oversight of the product creation. Gaining a core competency in financial analysis is really important in helping me create an environment where the correct and best decisions get made as we work cross-functionally with Finance and Development.
