Why did you decide to sign up for Leading with Finance?
I wanted to improve my financial knowledge and build an understanding of financial terms, financial statements, and financial analysis, so I could use these newly-honed skills in real-life contexts to evaluate current events.
What was your favorite part of the program?
Everything! The first two modules (Financial Analysis & Finance vs. Accounting) were a great refresher. It reminded me of the details, concepts, and skills that I had learned during CORe and that I still needed to improve. The remaining four modules (Capital Markets, Creating Value, Valuation, and Capital Allocation) were quite new for me. They helped me develop an intuition about financial decisions and fill in a knowledge gap.
How are you applying the skills you've learned in Leading with Finance?
The program gave me a framework and a great toolbox for the cases that I am currently developing. For example, I am right now working on capital structure decisions of firms and I need to apply the concepts that I’ve just learned.
Any advice for people who will be taking Leading with Finance?
The best way to learn is to interact with the Harvard Business School Online community as much as possible!
